Hikaru was born in Tokyo, Japan and was the first japanese national to be admitted at the Paris Opera Ballet School, where she studied from 1992 to 1995, when she joined the Jeune Ballet de France. In 1996 she joined the Zurich Ballet and in 1999 the Dutch National Ballet. She has won the Grand Prix in the International Competition of Vignale Danza in 1998.

In September 2003 she joined The Royal Ballet as a First Artist and was promoted to Soloist in 2006. She become First Soloist in 2009.

Her repertoire includes the principal roles of Princesse Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Nikiya and Gamzatti in La Bayadère, Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Myrtha in Giselle, Calliope in Apollo, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Pas de Trois in Agon, First Theme in The Four Temperaments by Balanchine,  Concerto pas de Deux by MacMillan, Thais by Ashton, The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude and Approximate Sonata by Forsythe, Four Last Songs by Van Danzig, Five Tangos and Sarcamen by Van Manen.

Hikaru has danced as a guest artist with the New National Theater and the Star Dancers Ballet of Tokyo and the Tulsa Ballet of Oklahoma. She has participated in numerous performances and galas around the world.

I will be doing a short DVD of the 3 day course but please be patient as it will take many hours to edit the DVD... remember Rome was not built in a day!
